What is your medical restriction and liability policy?
Safety & Liability Notice: Operating or riding in personal watercraft involves inherent marine risks, changing water conditions, and vessel movements over waves or wakes. All participants are required to review and execute a comprehensive legal Release and Waiver of Liability Form prior to departure (parental consent forms are mandatory for minors). By participating, guests acknowledge these standard maritime risks and agree to fully adhere to all tour guide instructions and safety boundaries.
Guests with pre-existing medical conditions should not participate. Some of these conditions are detailed below, though this is not an exhaustive list:
Pregnancy (at any stage)
Chronic back, neck, or joint injuries
High blood pressure (hypertension), cardiovascular conditions, or recent surgeries
Any medical condition requiring life-sustaining medications, or medications that could cause physical or cognitive impairment
Is the price per person or per boat? Are there weight limits?
The listed rate of $260.00 (plus applicable NC state sales tax) is a flat fee per boat, not per person.

Capacity: Each 2-passenger power catamaran has a strict maximum limit of two riders.

Weight Restrictions: There is a strict manufacturer-mandated limit of 250 lbs maximum per person and a 500 lbs maximum combined total weight per watercraft. These safety limits are absolute and non-negotiable.
Do I need a boating license to drive the power catamaran?
No prior boating experience or special licensing is required. Before departing, we provide every guest with a comprehensive, mandatory dockside safety orientation and watercraft operation briefing. Additionally, a guide leads the entire tour in a lead boat to ensure a safe, organized, and guided route.
What is your weather and cancellation policy?
All sales are final, and all tickets are non-refundable for guest no-shows or guest cancellations within 72 hours of the scheduled tour.

Weather Cancellations: Tours operate in light rain, but we will not launch in dangerous conditions (high winds exceeding 18 mph, active lightning, or heavy inlet swells). Carolinas Coastal Adventure Tours LLC reserves the sole right to cancel or reschedule a tour for safety.

Inclement Weather Credit: If we cancel your tour due to hazardous weather, you will be issued an immediate tour credit or an egift certificate for the full amount paid that never expires.
Will I get wet during the tour?
Yes. You are piloting low-profile, 2-passenger personal catamarans that sit close to the water's surface. We strongly recommend wearing bathing suits or athletic beach attire.
Are pets or service animals allowed on the boats?
No. Due to the open-deck layout and motion of our personal catamarans, the vessels cannot safely accommodate pets or service animals. The design of these watercraft poses safety and fall hazards for animals, and we maintain a strict policy to ensure the safety of all animals and guests.
What should I bring on the tour?
Pack light. Each watercraft features a built-in dry box designed to hold small essentials like phones, wallets, car keys, and reef-safe sunscreen. You are welcome to bring towels to lay over the seats, non-alcoholic drinks to stay hydrated, and small snacks. Alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited at all times; visibly intoxicated individuals will be denied boarding immediately without a refund.
When is the best time to book a tour?
Our tours depart 7 days a week from April 1 through September 30.

Is there a restroom break during the excursion?
There are no restroom facilities on the water or during the tour. We highly recommend using the restroom facilities located at the Ocean Isle Beach Marina check-in desk before boarding.
Do we tip our tour guides?
While gratuities are not legally mandatory, they are customary and highly expected. Our guides work tirelessly behind the scenes cleaning, detailing, and maintaining the fleet to ensure your vessel is immaculate. A standard 15% to 20% cash or digital tip is customary for exceptional, safe service.
Can both passengers switch off driving the boat during the tour?
Yes. As long as both participants are at least 21 years old and possess a valid ID, you are welcome to switch drivers at designated safety stops during the excursion. Your tour guide will assist you in safely swapping seats while the watercraft is stationary.
What if I am a solo traveler or have an odd number of people in my group?
Because our high-performance power catamarans are built strictly as 2-seater watercraft, booking requires a minimum of one boat ($260.00). A solo traveler can pilot a boat alone. For groups with an odd number of guests (e.g., 3 or 5 people), one person will command their own individual boat, or you can check our real-time availability to pair up across multiple vessels.
Are life jackets provided, and am I required to wear one?
Yes, premium United States Coast Guard (USCG) approved life jackets are provided for all guests. For your absolute safety, wearing your fitted life jacket is mandatory for the entire duration of the tour, from the moment we leave the Ocean Isle Beach Marina docks until we return.
Can we bring a cooler or alcoholic beverages on the watercraft?
Coolers are not permitted due to the streamlined, high-speed hull design of our 2-passenger boats. However, you may bring a small personal dry bag or soft-sided cooler for non-alcoholic drinks and snacks. The consumption or possession of alcohol, recreational drugs, or any impairing substances is strictly prohibited before and during the tour. Visibly impaired individuals will be denied boarding immediately without a refund. Our priority is a safe environment for all guests.
How fast do the 2-passenger power catamarans go?
Our personal power catamarans are capable of cruising at speeds up to 25 mph. Because the watercraft sit low to the water's surface, this provides a highly responsive, engaging, and scenic driving experience that allows you to navigate the shallow waterways much closer than a standard pontoon or large charter boat.
Do the boats have a bimini top or shade?
Our fleet features open-air, low-profile performance watercraft designed for maximum visibility, wildlife viewing, and responsive handling. The boats do have shade canopies but we never deploy them. We highly recommend wearing hats, UV-protective clothing, polarized sunglasses, and reef-safe sunscreen.
Can we swim or jump off the boats during the excursion?
No. For liability and safety reasons, guests are required to remain securely seated inside the watercraft at all times. Our guided tours are designed strictly for eco-navigation, sightseeing, and wildlife viewing. Swimming or diving off the vessels into the Intracoastal Waterway, inlets or any body of water is strictly forbidden.
Is parking free at the Ocean Isle Beach Marina check-in location?
Yes, complimentary parking is available on-site for all scheduled guests. When arriving at 2000 Sommersett Rd SW, look for designated guest parking areas near the main marina facility. Please remember to arrive 30 minutes early to park, use the restroom, and check in at our desk.
Can a child drive the watercraft if an adult is onboard?
No. To legally operate and drive our power catamarans, the driver must be at least 21 years of age with a valid ID. Children aged 5 and older are welcome to ride as passengers and enjoy the high-speed safari from the co-captain's seat, but they cannot handle the throttle or steering wheel.
What landmarks and areas do we see on the tour?
Our routes take you through the premier coastal ecosystems of the Brunswick Islands. Can I bring a high-end camera or smartphone to take photos?
Yes, but at your own risk. Our boats feature built-in dry boxes to protect electronics from splashing water. However, because these are open-air, high-speed watercraft, there is always a risk of water exposure or dropping items overboard when taking photos. We highly recommend using wrist straps, floating cases, or waterproof action cameras (like a GoPro) to capture your dolphin and wildlife sightings safely.
What kind of shoes should I wear to the marina?
Feel free to wear flip-flops, sandals, or water shoes to our check-in desk at the Ocean Isle Beach Marina. However, once we prepare for boarding, all shoes must be left securely at our dock or stored completely inside your vessel's dry box. Operating the foot throttle and navigating the boat's deck is safest and most comfortable barefoot.
Are your tours safe for non-swimmers?
Non-swimmers are welcome to participate. Our personal catamarans are engineered with an exceptionally low center of gravity and a dual-hull design, making them incredibly stable and difficult to flip under normal operating conditions. Additionally, all guests—regardless of swimming ability—are required to wear a properly fitted, USCG-approved Type III life jacket (PFD) at all times while on the water. Because our tours are strictly guided by a professional captain and guests must remain securely seated on the vessel for the duration of the trip, you do not need to know how to swim to enjoy the experience.
How close do we actually get to the dolphins and sea turtles?
We strictly adhere to all federal marine wildlife protection laws to ensure our local ecosystems remain safe and untamed. While we never chase, corral, or feed the animals, dolphins are naturally curious and frequently swim directly alongside our low-profile 2-seater boats. Can I book a tour if I am prone to motion sickness or seasickness?
Most guests who experience traditional seasickness on large ocean-going charter boats do fantastic on our tours. We navigate the Intracoastal Waterway, scenic marshes, and protected rivers, which means we completely avoid the heavy rolling swells of the open Atlantic Ocean. Do you offer private group tours for corporate events or family reunions?
Yes. What happens if I accidentally damage the boat or equipment?
Before departing the Ocean Isle Beach Marina, your guide provides a thorough, step-by-step navigation and safety briefing. As the designated captain of your rental watercraft, you are fully responsible for following all guide instructions and maintaining a safe distance from other vessels and obstacles. Guests are financially liable for any negligent damage caused to the watercraft or safety gear during the tour.
Do we go out into the open Atlantic Ocean?
Our guided routes are intentionally designed to explore the rich biodiversity of the coastal inlets, salt marshes, and shallow waterways where wildlife activity peaks. We do NOT navigate out into the open ocean. This keeps the ride incredibly exciting, fast, and smooth, while ensuring maximum safety and comfort for all ages.

Unlike a jet ski, where you are constantly clinging to a handlebar, exposed to heavy spray, and riding single-file, our 2-passenger power catamarans feature side-by-side premium seating.
